Corporation team intervenes in persistent garbage dumping near Marannagounder School, Sullivan Street, Gandhi Park, with clean-up efforts led by students and monitored by a special GPS guided team under Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran’s strict protocols.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation team has reported a significant garbage disposal issue near Sullivan Street, Gandhi Park, where locals have been discarding household waste for the past three years. Residents have complained, mistakenly believing that corporation garbage collection vehicles do not service the area. However, due to the stringent measures implemented by Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran, I.A.S, all vehicles are tracked via GPS, ensuring thorough monitoring across the city to prevent open dumping.

Despite these efforts, the situation in this area had not improved until recently. Yesterday, in a commendable initiative, all the accumulated garbage was cleared, and the walls were freshly painted with the assistance of students from Marannagounder School.

This clean-up drive also saw the involvement of the sanitary inspector, Salaith from ward 73, who played a pivotal role in beautifying the place. The corporation team is now reaching out for support to project the images of this transformation on various platforms as a token of appreciation for those involved in this positive change.

The local community's participation and the coordinated efforts is needed to clean up the area.
