AIADMK MLA Amul Kandasamy Leads Road Blockade in Anaimalai Protesting Removal of Jayalalithaa's Birthday Banner

In Anaimalai, Coimbatore, AIADMK MLA Amul Kandasamy and supporters staged a road blockade protesting the police's removal of a banner celebrating former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's 76th birthday.

Coimbatore: Today, AIADMK MLA Amul Kandasamy, along with former MLA Kasthuri Vasu and over a hundred party supporters, engaged in a road blockade at Anaimalai Triangle in Coimbatore district. The protest was in response to the removal of a flex banner erected in honor of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s 76th birthday by the police and municipal workers overnight.

The banner, placed by AIADMK members at Anaimalai Triangle to commemorate the birthday of Jayalalithaa, was removed for not having the necessary permissions. This action triggered a strong reaction from the AIADMK members who discovered the missing banners upon arriving for the birthday celebration events this morning. Upon inquiry, police stated the removal was due to the lack of authorization, raising questions among AIADMK members about the fairness of the action, especially when banners from other organizations, including DMK, remained untouched in the same area.

The situation escalated to a road blockade, where a significant number of AIADMK members gathered on the Pollachi Sethumadai Road at Anaimalai Triangle, demanding answers and protesting the selective enforcement. The Anaimalai police arrived at the scene to negotiate with the protesters, leading to a dialogue that eventually resolved the tension, and the blockade was called off.

This incident has highlighted the sensitivities surrounding political displays and the enforcement of regulations, reflecting the deep-seated loyalties to Jayalalithaa and the AIADMK among its supporters.
