Flying Squad Seizes ₹14.94 Lakh in Unaccounted Cash Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections in Tirupur

In a pre-election crackdown, a flying squad in Tirupur seized ₹14.94 lakh in unaccounted cash from an individual, underscoring strict enforcement of election conduct rules.

Tirupur: With the Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the enforcement squads are on high alert, ensuring strict adherence to the election conduct rules. In a significant move, the flying squad led by Assistant Director of Horticulture, Mohana, and comprising of Assistant Inspector Palaniyammal, Head Constable Duraipabu, and constables Aitheesh and Ponragurajan, conducted a thorough search early this morning near Krishna Bakery, located at the roundabout on the Tirupur-Coimbatore-Salem highway in Avinashi, Tirupur District.

The squad's vigilance was part of the routine checks to curb any form of electoral malpractice, including the flow of unaccounted money meant to influence the election outcome. During their operation, the officials noticed a young man alighting from an A1 Travels luxury bus arriving from Chennai, who appeared suspicious as he was incessantly using his mobile phone and standing aloof.

Upon inspection, the officials discovered ₹14.94 lakh wrapped in a black carry bag inside his luggage, with no proper documentation to account for the large sum of money. The individual, identified as Rahmathullah from the Madurai Sivagangai region, along with Aravind Raj from the Mannarai area who arrived on a scooter presumably to pick Rahmathullah up, were unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the source of the funds.

The swift action by the flying squad to confiscate the unaccounted cash and hand it over to the Income Tax Department highlights the rigorous measures being implemented to ensure a fair electoral process. This seizure is a clear message to those attempting to disrupt the democratic process through illicit means that such activities will not be tolerated. The proactive steps taken by the authorities in Tirupur are commendable and reinforce the commitment to conducting clean and transparent elections.
