Nutritional Organizers Spark Election Awareness with Kolam Art in Coimbatore

In a creative drive to boost election awareness, Coimbatore's nutritional organizers have laid out informative kolams near a municipal school, emphasizing the importance of voting.

Coimbatore: As the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to commence on April 19th, unfolding in seven phases, the city of Coimbatore is witnessing innovative methods of voter awareness. A group of nutritional organizers under the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has taken to the traditional art of kolam to remind the public of their civic duty to vote.

Near the Okkiliyar Colony Municipal Upper Primary School, these organizers came together to craft rangoli kolams that not only beautify the surroundings but also carry powerful messages about the significance of voting. On March 19th, they adorned the pavement with phrases such as "Voting is our duty and right", "The power of our vote is the pride of our nation", "Let's create history with one finger on (19.04.2024) voting day", and "My vote is not for sale, it's for my country’s future", thereby weaving civic education seamlessly into daily life.

The kolams also featured images of voting machines, the national flag, the map of India, and voters wearing face masks, symbolizing a pandemic-aware election. This artistic endeavor not only captured the essence of the electoral process but also highlighted the organizers' commitment to encouraging an informed voter turnout.

Assistant Election Officer Selva Surabi took time to visit and admire the kolams, appreciating the creative effort to spread electoral awareness. This initiative by the nutritional organizers of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation stands as a testament to the city's vibrant culture and its dedication to participating in the democratic process. Such grassroots efforts are crucial in reminding the electorate of their vital role in shaping the nation's future through the power of their vote.
