Actor Karunas Campaigns in Ramanathapuram, Criticizes GST Impact on Coimbatore's Industry

Actor Karunas, campaigning for DMK candidate Ganapathi Rajkumar in Coimbatore, criticized the Central Government’s GST policy for negatively impacting Coimbatore's industries on April 15.

Coimbatore: Actor Karunas took centre stage in Ramanathapuram for a political rally supporting DMK candidate Ganapathi Rajkumar, who is contesting in the Coimbatore parliamentary constituency. During his speech, Karunas harshly criticized the Central Government, led by BJP, alleging that their taxation policies have significantly harmed the industries in Coimbatore, often referred to as the Manchester of South India.

He claimed that for the past decade, the BJP government has been ineffectual in redistributing the collected revenue for relief efforts, especially in the flood-hit areas of Chennai and other southern districts, while states like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh receive greater financial attention. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu receives only 29 paise per rupee from the Centre, depicting a clear financial bias.

Karunas also expressed his strong sentiments about the protection and promotion of Tamil as the mother tongue and emphasized the importance of voting for the DMK to safeguard state rights and the constitutional law. He criticized AIADMK leaders such as Edappadi Palaniswami for their betrayals to the land and the community, while also making a point about the importance of resisting any moves to undermine Tamil pride.

He appealed to the constituents of Coimbatore to stand against BJP in the forthcoming elections to ensure democracy prevails in the Parliament and to protect future generations from policies detrimental to the state’s welfare.
