Five Arrested for Roaming with Weapons in Selvapuram, Coimbatore

In Selvapuram, Coimbatore, five individuals were detained yesterday for allegedly conspiring to commit robberies while armed with weapons. The suspects were later imprisoned.


Coimbatore: A group equipped with weapons sparking alarms in Selvapuram led to police intervention yesterday, April 21. Acting on a tip-off, local police conducted a search operation in the area. They encountered the group near NS.K. Street by an empty playground.

Upon sighting the police, the individuals tried to escape but were quickly apprehended and interrogated. Their questioning revealed plans to commit robberies in Selvapuram and other nearby areas. The arrestees, identified as Abbas (24), Prakadeesh (24), Mubil (24), Sanjeev Kumar (28), and Sanbar (21), were from various parts of Selvapuram and surrounding regions.

Authorities presented the suspects before a court and subsequently jailed them. During the arrest, police also seized five knives and several mobile phones from the group.
