Family of murder suspect allege Saravanampatti Police inspector for torturing him during custody


Family members of Anand, who was arrested as a suspect of a murder case have sought action against Saravanampatti Police Inspector Rajkumar for allegedly torturing their son under custody. Tense situation prevailed at the Collectorate as the family members demonstrated a protest alleging a police officer.



Anand and Arvind, brothers are locals of Ganapathy area.The duo were arrested by the Saravanampatti police before six months as suspects in connection of a murder case. In March, 2017 Anand was let out under conditional bail. A couple of days back, police arrested Anand in connection of the same murder case for conducting an investigation.

It has been alleged that Anand was brutally beaten up by the Inspector of Saravanampatti Police station. Due to the attack on him, Anand's leg sustained multiple fractures for which he is presently getting treated at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. 



In this regard, Anand's sister has sought action against the Inspector for brutally attacking her brother to the District Collector through a petition. She also alleged that the Inspector has used caste-based abusive words on herself and her mother when they questioned about his act.  They also apprised that unable to bear the injustice done to her son, Anand's mother attempted suicide and is presently admitted to Government Hospital for treatment. 

The police on duty at the Collectorate pacified the family members and assured remedial action and cleared their protests.
