Dispute at Sri Ram Estate Leads to Sealing of Workers' Residence in Valparai

A conflict among parties involved in the sale of Sri Ram Estate near Valparai resulted in the sealing of a workers' residence by local authorities in presence of police and revenue officers.

Coimbatore: In Valparai, the private estate known as Sri Ram Estate was at the center of a dispute following its sale in June 2022 for Rs 1.05 crore by owner Raghunath to a buyer named Prabhu. Subsequently, after Raghunath's death in August 2022, issues arose concerning the financial dealings by his wife, Kavitha, who allegedly refused to honor the terms regarding an additional payment of Rs 60 lakh, resulting in a legal case at the Valparai financial court. In the latest development, a dispute between the buyer and seller in the presence of local authorities and police led to the sealing of the accommodation facility used by the estate workers at Sri Ram Estate.

Yesterday, amid heightened tensions among the parties, Valparai Police, under the supervision of Inspector Anandan and Revenue Officer Vasu Devan, changed the estate's workers' dwelling into a temporary lodging for commercial purposes and sealed it under section 145 CRPC as a security measure, causing unrest in the area.
