Tribal communities near Thirumurthy Hills allege Udmalpet Forest Officer, Shivakumar, is obstructing the road construction crucial for accessing medical facilities, risking lives.

Coimbatore: In the remote Thirumurthy Hills, adjacent to Udmalpet, tribals suffer greatly from lack of road infrastructure. Pregnant women and the sick have to travel around 100 kilometers through complex terrains to reach hospitals. A few months ago, locals protested demanding road construction from Thirumurthy to Kuzhipatti. Despite the district authorities granting permission, recent activities have been stalled by Forest Officer Shivakumar, citing pending approvals from the central government.
