'Just placing a single bin for the whole stretch is pointless' residents of Ganapathi complain

The residents of Ganapathi and Aavarampalayam are facing tough times as they are forced to live amidst huge piles of uncleared trash in their residential colonies. The residents of various streets belonging to Ward No:7, East Zone allege that the Corporation doesn't clear the trash on a routine basis instead do it as per their convenience.

'Trash of all kind, including kitchen wastes, household waste are left uncleared for more than a week. The smell emanating from the wastes are horrible' said a resident. He also shares that wastes like sanitary napkins, diapers are all over the place which could lead to health hazard. 'Stray dogs, rats and pests of all kind thrive on the trash and pose a serious sanitation threat to the residents and the passersby' he said.

Another resident of the same ward shares that, 'Removal of trash as per convenience is unacceptable. And, installing one bin for the entire stretch will do no good for anybody. Neither the people have place to dispose their trash inside the bin nor the Corporation workers are feeling good to pick up the trash that's spread all over the place. Based on the residential population of an area or street, bins should be accordingly increased in numbers. Whatever be the population of the street, just a single bin for one whole stretch is pointless'.

A woman resident of Ward No:47 shares that 'Uncleared trash and lack of proper bins has forced us to throw the garbage over the existing pile. Though, we really do not want to do that way, we are left with no option. When questioned on their irregularity, the Corporation workers say 'scarcity of workers' is the reason for the issue or claim non-availability of lorries to clear the trash''.

The residents of this ward have appealed that the concerned officials to initiate action to clear trash from their area in a scheduled manner.
