Thudiyalur TUCAS Cooperative Celebrates 70th Anniversary with a Free Buttermilk Stall

In celebration of the 70th anniversary, Thudiyalur TUCAS Cooperative in Coimbatore inaugurates a free buttermilk stall to fend off summer heat for the public.

Coimbatore: Marking 70 years since its inception, the Thudiyalur TUCAS Cooperative launched a free buttermilk stall in front of its institution, aiming to quench the thirst of the locals withstanding the scorching summer heat. Before the inauguration, a tribute was paid to the former leaders whose contributions were pivotal in forming the Cooperative back on May 5, 1955, intended to support local farmers.

Established to empower agricultural productivity among farmers, Thudiyalur TUCAS Cooperative has been at the helm of providing diverse services including banking, fuel supplies, fertilizer sales, pesticide manufacturing, and agricultural tool production.

The celebration was led by the Registrar/Managing Director Palaniswami and was attended by secretary Danabal, among other dignitaries. Not only did they kick off the event by lighting traditional lamps, but Palaniswami also showcased his respect by garlanding the portraits of former leaders including Palaniswami himself, Suppaiah Gounder, and Marappa Gounder, who were instrumental in establishing the Cooperative.

Furthermore, the event reached its peak when the commemorative 70th-anniversary buttermilk stall was officially opened by Palaniswami, who performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony. This kind gesture was well-received by the community, offering a much-needed respite from the heat.

Moreover, during a subsequent press meet, Palaniswami revealed that the Cooperative, which conducts business amounting to approximately 500 crore annually, is planning on modernizing its divisions with computerization, ISO certification efforts for production units, introduction of organic fertilizers production, drone-based pesticide application, and an online sales website.
