Coimbatore: In recent developments, the bail plea of YouTuber Savukku Shankar, arrested for alleged defamation of female police officers and senior police officials, has been postponed to May 20 by the Coimbatore Fourth Criminal Court. Shankar is presently detained in Coimbatore Central Prison pending multiple cases filed against him across various districts.
During his custody, Shankar sustained injuries, leading to allegations against prison guards. He reported a fracture in his right arm, prompting the court to mandate medical examinations. Subsequent X-rays confirmed minor cracks, and protective casting was applied.
Simultaneously, the Coimbatore Cyber Crime Police applied for and received permission from Judge Saravanababu to question Shankar in custody for one day. Following the questioning session, Shankar was summoned to appear in court today at 5 PM by the judge.
Earlier, Shankar filed two bail pleas in connection with cases accusing him of demeaning female officers and a marijuana-related charge. Today’s adjournment pushes the bail plea hearing further, complicating Shankar's legal challenges.
