In a recent goat theft incident near Kangayam, one thief was caught while another escaped. The local police are investigating the case and searching for the escaped individual.

Coimbatore: A man was arrested and another managed to escape following a goat theft near Kangayam, under Tiruppur District. The incident occurred in a garden owned by Lokeshwaran located at Pasuvan Muppan Valasai. The thieves were nabbed when locals suspected their activities and intercepted their car, leading to the recovery of four stolen goats. After a brief chase, one thief, identified as Satheeshkumar from Dindigul, was caught by the public as he fell, while the other, Muthuraman, also from Dindigul, managed to flee. The incident has highlighted ongoing issues of livestock theft in the area including repeated thefts of goats, cows, and chickens. The locals have been engaging in night patrols and have set up check posts in collaboration with the police to tackle these thefts.

Residents and farmers are urging the police to intensify their efforts and arrest all involved, pointing out that these crimes are hurting their livelihood which majorly depends on livestock farming. The continual occurrence of such thefts in places under the jurisdiction of Kangayam, Vellakovil, and Oothiyur police stations has led the community to be vigilant and aid law enforcement in addressing the situation. The police are currently conducting searches to apprehend Muthuraman and are investigating further to identify if more locals are involved.
