Prabhu (42), a resident of Rathinapuri Sasthri Nagar and an inmate at Coimbatore Central Jail, died after his treatment at the Coimbatore Government Hospital failed despite intensive care.
Coimbatore: A central jail inmate, identified as Prabhu, aged 42 from Rathinapuri Sasthri Nagar, has died following a medical emergency in Coimbatore Central Jail leading to failed treatment at the Government Hospital. Prabhu was earlier arrested by Rathinapuri police on charges related to a murder threat and was incarcerated at the central jail.
Yesterday (May 16), Prabhu experienced sudden breathing difficulties, prompting immediate first aid by jail medical staff. He was subsequently transferred to Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals who admitted him to the special ward for inmates, Prabhu’s condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his symptoms.

Further investigations are currently being conducted by the Racecourse police following his death, with a case being registered to ascertain the underlying cause and any potential procedural lapses.
