Mettupalayam-Ooty Mountain Train Service Suspended for a Day Due to Landslide

Due to continuous rainfall in the Nilgiris, a landslide has occurred on the Mettupalayam-Ooty mountain train route, leading to a one-day suspension of the train service on May 23.

Coimbatore: The scenic Mettupalayam-Ooty mountain train service that operates between Mettupalayam and Ooty, providing spectacular natural views to both domestic and international tourists, has been temporarily halted.

Following recent repairs due to a prior landslide from continuous rains in the Nilgiris, the service was reinstated.

However, persistent heavy rainfall last night caused another significant landslide between Adarly and Hillgrove stations, dislodging boulders and debris, which covered the tracks.

Consequently, the Salem Railway Division has announced the cancellation of the mountain train service for today, May 23. This unexpected disruption has led to disappointment among many tourists planning to travel on this picturesque route.
