In Valparai's Kamarajar Nagar, a Nishagandhi plant, flowering once a year, delighted locals by blossoming with over 30 blooms last night around 10 PM.
Coimbatore: A rare botanical event occurred in Valparai's Kamarajar Nagar as a Nishagandhi plant, known for blooming only once annually, displayed over 30 white fragrant flowers last night. Babu, the homeowner nurturing this plant for the last four years, and the local community were overjoyed by the spectacular view.

The Nishagandhi, or Night Blooming Jasmine, began its blooming journey with a few flowers initially and soon burst into a full bloom with numerous blossoms, filling the air with their delightful aroma. This flower, noted for its purity and striking white color, blooms at night and withers away before sunrise.
This species, commonly found in the Himalayan region, is also notable for its medicinal properties similar to those of the leaves. The blooming spectacle, although ephemeral, has brought significant joy not only to Babu's family but also to the surrounding residents who gathered to witness and admire this annual floral phenomenon.
