In the Western Ghats region of Coimbatore, wild elephants are commonly spotted as they occasionally venture out of the forests in search of food and water. In a recent incident, a wild elephant entered Saadivayal, a village close to Kovai Kutralam, on the morning of May 31, 2024, causing panic among the locals. The Forest Department was promptly alerted and has initiated efforts to drive the elephant back to the forest.
Due to the presence of the elephant in the area, the Forest Department has advised the public not to venture out alone especially during the early morning and evening hours. In response to the situation, locals are cooperating with the Forest Department to ensure the elephant safely returns to its natural habitat without causing further disturbances.
