Tourists Cautioned as Tigers Spotted Near Athirappilly Waterfalls in Valparai’s Forest Area

Two tigers were observed near the Athirappilly Waterfalls in Valparai, prompting a cautionary warning from the Kerala Forest Department to all visitors to stay vigilant, especially near water areas.

Coimbatore: In a notable wildlife sighting, two tigers were spotted near the Athirappilly Waterfalls in Valparai, adjacent to the Vazhachal River area. The location, near Valparai in Coimbatore’s outskirts and bordering Kerala, frequently attracts tourists en route to the popular waterfall. The sighting occurred yesterday afternoon, with tourists capturing the moment and sharing it online.

In light of this, the Kerala Forest Department has issued a caution to all tourists visiting the forested regions around the waterfalls. They advised against descending to river areas or swimming in these locales to ensure visitor safety. This precautionary measure aims to prevent any potential tiger-human conflicts and maintain the safety of both the wildlife and the visitors.
