Fire Station Officer Arrested for Accepting Bribe in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, Siddhapudur, Karuppasamy reported Fire Station Officer Sivaraj for demanding a Rs. 20,000 bribe for a no-objection certificate. Anti-corruption bureau arrested Sivaraj during a planned trap operation.


Coimbatore: A fire station officer named Sivaraj was arrested on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000. The incident occurred in the Siddhapudur area. The complainant, a businessman named Karuppasamy, sought a no-objection certificate for his establishment in Kovai Kurichi SIDCO, which led him to the Coimbatore Pudur fire station.

Karuppasamy was asked for the bribe to facilitate the issuance of the certificate. Unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the Coimbatore anti-corruption bureau and filed a complaint against officer Sivaraj. Following the bureau's guidance, Karuppasamy handed over fake notes to Sivaraj on June 7, and at that moment, hidden officials arrested the officer.
