In Coimbatore, two individuals from Odisha were arrested near Somanur for selling ganja-infused chocolates. They were caught during a raid conducted by local police.

Continuing the crackdown on the illegal sale of drugs, the Coimbatore District Police surged into action against ganja dealers. In a recent drive led by District Superintendent of Police, Badrin Narayanan, a tip-off regarding the sale of ganja chocolates in the Karumathampatti area prompted an immediate investigation.
On June 8, 2024, in response to the information, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing personnel conducted a raid near Somanur. During this operation, Abishek Dora (30) and Abishith Dora (27), both hailing from Odisha, were found selling ganja-infused chocolates. The police arrested them on the spot and confiscated 9 kilograms of ganja chocolates from their possession.
Subsequently, the arrested individuals were presented before the court and have been remanded to custody, as part of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
