Coimbatore: In a touching celebration today, over 100 individuals who successfully battled cancer congregated at G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital for the Cancer Survivors Day. The event emphasized the theme "Light of Hope", suggesting that cancer is not an end but can be overcome with optimism.

Participants, along with the doctors, nurses, and counselors who supported them through their treatment, lit candles to share their journey and foster hope among others facing similar battles. The ceremony projected resilience and the possibility of recovery, demonstrating the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

The Chief Medical Officer of GKNM Hospital, Dr. Manoharan, presided over the event. The department heads of the cancer unit, Dr. Sivanesan, and Dr. Karthika, were present as guest speakers. They discussed the technical and emotional aspects of cancer treatment, while honoring the donors who have significantly contributed to the treatment costs, helping patients without sufficient means.

Special guest Dr. Jayaprakash Jegadeesan, a prominent psychiatrist, spoke about managing mental health issues during and after cancer treatment. Following him, motivational speaker Dr. Sharmila Banu inspired the audience by discussing success stories of those who, despite their challenges, have achieved remarkable feats with confidence.
