Edappadi Palaniswami Expresses Condolences for Victims of Kuwait Fire Incident

In Coimbatore, Edappadi K. Palaniswami expressed his deep condolences to the families of the Indian victims, including seven from Tamil Nadu, who perished in a fire incident in Kuwait.


Coimbatore: During his Coimbatore visit to catch a flight to Chennai, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami met with reporters on June 13. During the interaction, he discussed the recent Parliamentary elections where AIADMK garnered slightly more votes than in the 2019 elections. Palaniswami pointed out that, contrary to the opposition’s claims and certain media narratives suggesting a dip in AIADMK's vote share, the party actually secured an additional 1% of votes compared to the 2019 Parliamentary elections.

The DMK, in contrast, experienced a decrease in their vote percentage, dropping from 33.52% in 2019 to 26.93% in the latest elections, marking a significant decline of 6.59 percentage points. Palaniswami highlighted how most coalition parties conducted intensive campaigns in their respective constituencies using the full extent of their governmental power.

The AIADMK leader also addressed a recent tragic event overseas, expressing his profound condolences to the families of 50 Indians killed in a fire incident in Kuwait, which included seven people from Tamil Nadu. He appealed to both the state and central governments to provide the necessary relief to the bereaved families. Palaniswami criticized the way this tragedy was being used by some to tarnish the AIADMK's image, depicting a non-existent decline in support, and clarified the facts regarding the party's enhanced performance in vote share.

Referring to the upcoming elections, he was confident about AIADMK’s prospects and also touched on the broader strategies of national parties during the elections. Palaniswami closed his remarks by emphasizing the strong performance and solidarity within the AIADMK, which he argues are evident from its consistent voter support, irrespective of the narratives suggested by some factions.
