Coimbatore: A shocking case of impersonation has come to light where a woman dressed as a police officer and named Ambika was arrested for deceiving multiple people in Coimbatore. The incident unfolded in the Selvapuram area where Ambika, posing as a policewoman, purchased a two-wheeler from a local used vehicle dealer, Dinesh, in December. During the purchase, she provided Dinesh with a police ID and an Aadhaar card to authenticate her identity.
Ambika failed to make the required EMI payments post-purchase, leading Dinesh to uncover her deceit. When he inquired at the nearby Verity Hall police station, it was revealed that there was no police officer named Ambika. Following this, Dinesh filed a complaint at the Selvapuram police station.
An investigation was promptly initiated based on Dinesh’s complaint, leading to the arrest of Ambika and her accomplice, Raghu, on June 13. Further inquiries by the police confirmed that Ambika had similarly cheated several others by misrepresenting herself as a policewoman. Ambika and Raghu are currently under police custody and further investigation is ongoing as of June 14.
