Tasmac at GV Residency, a growing menace.

Following the closure of Tasmac shops that were operating on the state/national highways, the existing liquor shops in the city are flooded with people. One such is the Tasmac operating at GV Residency.

As the Singanallur to Hopes Road is under maintenance, most of the commuters use the GV residency Road to reach Peelamedu. For the past couple of days, complaints have been pouring in that people who use this Tasmac situated in GV Residency dump all wastes like water packets, liquor bottles, food packets and contaminate the whole area.

Next to the Tasmac there is a huge empty space which belongs to the Corporation and a part of it also belongs to the private. However, the empty space is slowly getting transformed to an open bar for the drunkards. Every night, a handful of tipplers can be spotted who cause nuisance to the commuters and pedestrians, especially to women and children.

Unruly parking of vehicles on the either side on the Masakalipalayam Road is yet another annoyance caused by the people who visit this Tasmac. On either side of the road, the Tasmac customers park their vehicles both two-wheelers and four-wheelers in a disorderly way and cause severe traffic congestion during night hours.

Shockingly, it is also alleged that Police have not taken any action on this and that they are stationed at just 100 meters from the site to catch hold of drink and drive cases.

The public allege that if the Police warn these people for misusing the empty space for consuming alcohol and contaminating the whole area, the Tasmac customers would buy their drinks and leave the place. But as of now, the drunkards use this place as they wish and continue to cause menace to the public. If the same situation continues, a new dump yard will be formed next to the tasmac, lament the public.
