Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan participated in the International Yoga Day event at Ramakrishna Mission Educational Institution in Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, engaging with over 800 students in a mass yoga session.
Coimbatore: Celebrating International Yoga Day, Dr. L. Murugan, the Union Minister of State for Information Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, attended a special event at the Ramakrishna Mission Educational Institution located in Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore.

The event saw participation of over 800 school and college students performing various yoga poses under the minister's guidance.

Welcoming the minister were prominent members from the institution including Swami Garishthananda, Buddidhananda, Virahananda, and physical education professors Jayabal and Giridharan.

The Union Minister addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of yoga in promoting mental bravery, unity, and well-being. He highlighted the global acceptance of Yoga following its endorsement by 127 countries in the United Nations in 2014, marking June 21 as International Yoga Day annually.
This year marks a decade of the global celebration of Yoga Day, with a notable session held by the Prime Minister of India in Kashmir, engaging students in yoga practices. Dr. L. Murugan, joining the students at the event, expressed joy in practicing yoga with them, illustrating its vital role in managing lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension through regular practice.
