The demonstration was spearheaded by K. Balasubramanian, district secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist).
Prominent figures like Balasundaram, a central committee member, Sekar Annadurai from People’s Civil Rights Organization, Peros Babu from Revolutionary Youth Association, Philomina of All India Progressive Women's Association, and Ravikumar from Adi Tamil Peravai vehemently spoke against the charges.
