Residents Express Concern as Snakes Emerge from Water Tank Area in Vilankurichi, Coimbatore

In Vilankurichi, Coimbatore, residents report frequent snake appearances from a water tank, alarming the locality. Despite complaints, no action has been taken by authorities.

Coimbatore: In the 32nd ward of Vilankurichi, Marutham Nagar, a water tank maintained by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board is causing distress among residents. The area around this water tank has become overgrown with bushes and undergrowth, becoming a breeding ground for snakes and other potentially dangerous creatures.

The residents have expressed their fears, stating that the sightings of snakes in their vicinity are frequent and are even preventing children from playing outdoors. Despite multiple complaints to the water board officials, the authorities have reportedly not taken any substantial measures to address these concerns.

Furthermore, residents stressed the unsafe conditions for walking, especially for children. They urged civic workers and water board employees to regularly clean the area to prevent such dangerous wildlife from entering residential zones. On June 22, a formal request was made highlighting that only proper maintenance could mitigate the issue.

Locals continue to live in fear, pleading for urgent intervention to ensure their community's safety.
