The defamation case against AIADMK's Edappadi K. Palaniswami was postponed to July 6 in Coimbatore court following an inquiry on June 27 under Judge Gopalakrishnan.
Coimbatore: During a brief session at Coimbatore Airport, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, General Secretary of AIADMK, addressed the media on June 14. He expressed his frustration over the formation of coordination committees, questioning whether everyone walking on the street needed to respond to their organization. He also highlighted the tenure of O. Panneerselvam, where a Coimbatore-based member was allegedly part of such committees.
Former Member of Parliament KC Palaniswami has subsequently pressed charges, insisting on action against Edappadi K. Palaniswami for his allegedly defamatory remarks about himself and the coordination committee. The defamation case was lodged in the Coimbatore court.
The case was brought before the Coimbatore District Court's first jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Gopalakrishnan. Having considered the case on June 27, Judge Gopalakrishnan decided to postpone further hearings until July 6.
