Actor Parthiban Files Complaint Against Coimbatore VFX Firm

Actor Parthiban has lodged a complaint against a Coimbatore-based graphics firm founder for alleged breach of contract and alleged fraud in the production of his film 'Teenz'. Sivaprasad, VFX Firm founder has denied all allegations and has accused Parthiban of harassment and contract violations in a civil suit filed on June 9, 2024.

Coimbatore: Actor Parthiban has filed a complaint against Sivaprasad, a popular VFX firm (Realworks Studios) founder from Coimbatore, for allegedly cheating him during the production of his upcoming film 'Teenz'. The complaint was lodged at the Race Course Police Station in Coimbatore.

Sivaprasad, founder of Real Works in Coimbatore, was hired as the graphics production team for Parthiban's film 'Teenz'. Realworks is popular for many earlier works including the movie Leo recently.

Parthiban has alleged that Sivaprasad had agreed to complete all graphics work for the film by February 10 or 20, 2024. The initial agreement was allegedly for Rs. 68,54,400, of which Parthiban had already paid Rs. 42 lakhs.

He alleged that “Despite the agreed deadline, Sivaprasad failed to deliver the work on time.” Parthiban extended the deadline to April 19, but Sivaprasad allegedly had completed only a quarter of the work. He then informed Parthiban that he couldn't finish the crucial graphics scenes within April.

Adding to the complications, Sivaprasad sent an email to Parthiban on the 4th of last month, demanding a payment of Rs. 88,38,120 for the graphics work. This amount was significantly higher than the initially agreed sum and was requested for extra work done.

Due to non-compliance, Sivaprasad had filed a civil case against Parthiban on June 9, 2024. It is to be remembered that Parthiban’s last film also went through the same issue. Sivaprasad, speaking to SimpliCity, said that Parthiban has been trying to extort considerably more work than agreed and when the work was delivered, Parthiban had failed to pay extra nor the agreed amount and had complained of unsatisfactory work at that time.

On Parthiban’s part, he filed a case with Race Course Police Station for breach of contract, delay in work completion.Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against Sivaprasad under sections related to breach of trust and cheating. The investigation is currently ongoing.

This incident has shed light on the challenges faced by technical professionals in dealing with directors / production units and the importance of adhering to contractual agreements in the film industry.
