Pollachi DMK Celebrates Vikravandi Victory with Mango Squeeze

DMK members in Pollachi celebrated their party's victory in Vikravandi by-election by squeezing mangoes and distributing sweets to the public on February 27, 2024.


Coimbatore: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) members in Pollachi celebrated their party's victory in the Vikravandi by-election in a unique manner on Tuesday. The celebration took place in front of the Central Anna Bus Stand in Pollachi, where party members squeezed mangoes and distributed sweets to the public.

The by-election for the Vikravandi assembly constituency was held on February 10, and the vote counting process was underway on the day of the celebration. As the DMK candidate maintained a lead of over 50,000 votes, party members in Pollachi decided to mark the impending victory with a festive gathering.



Led by Syamala Navaneetan, the Urban Council President of DMK, more than a hundred party members gathered at the bus stand. The jubilant crowd burst firecrackers, squeezed mangoes, and distributed sweets to passersby and local residents. The celebration was attended by numerous DMK executives and party functionaries from the area.

The mango-squeezing act, a unique way of expressing joy, drew attention from onlookers and symbolized the party's sweet victory in the by-election. The event not only marked the DMK's electoral success but also showcased the party's strong presence and support base in the Pollachi region of Coimbatore district.
