Continuous Rainfall in Western Ghats Causes Flood at Pollachi's Kavi Aruvi

Persistent rains in the Western Ghats near Pollachi have led to flooding at Kavi Aruvi waterfall. Forest officials have banned tourists from visiting the site for the third consecutive day.

Coimbatore: The Western Ghats near Pollachi have been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past few days, resulting in a flood-like situation at the Kavi Aruvi waterfall near Aliyar. The heavy downpour has caused water to gush forcefully through the waterfall, creating a spectacular yet dangerous scenario.

Due to the ongoing heavy water flow, the Forest Department has imposed a ban on tourists visiting Kavi Aruvi for the third consecutive day. This precautionary measure has been taken to ensure the safety of visitors, as the current conditions pose significant risks.

The continuous rainfall in the Western Ghats has not only affected Kavi Aruvi but has also impacted the surrounding areas. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. The increased water levels in nearby rivers and streams have put the region on high alert.

While the rainfall brings much-needed water to the region, it also highlights the need for careful management of natural resources and tourist spots during extreme weather conditions. The Forest Department officials have stated that they will continue to assess the situation daily and lift the ban on tourist visits once it is deemed safe.
