As part of the ongoing anti-drug operations by the Coimbatore district police, the Perur police team conducted a raid near Theethipalayam and seized around 1.10 tonnes of banned tobacco products allegedly stocked for sale. A 52-year-old man was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Coimbatore: Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Perur police station conducted a search near Theethipalayam and allegedly found a large quantity of banned tobacco products stocked for sale. Police seized around 1.10 tonnes of tobacco products and arrested Sankara Pandi (52), a resident of the Perur area, in connection with the seizure.
The seizure was part of the Coimbatore district police’s ongoing crackdown on the illegal sale and transportation of banned tobacco products and other narcotic substances.
Police have urged the public to promptly report information regarding the sale or transportation of such substances to the nearest police station or through the department’s designated contact numbers.
The public can also share information confidentially through “Nizhal,” a QR-code-based platform launched by the Coimbatore district police. The platform allows individuals to provide information without revealing their identity.
Information can also be shared with the Coimbatore district police control room at 94981 81212 or via WhatsApp at 77081 00100. Police have assured that the identities of those providing information will be kept confidential.
