Coimbatore Auto Sports Club to host National Car Racing Championship

The Round 3 Blue Band FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship 2024 is set to thrill race enthusiasts in Coimbatore on Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28, 2024. The event promises exciting competitions across various categories.



Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Auto Sports Club is gearing up to host the Round 3 of the Blue Band FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2024 on July 27 and 28. This two-day event, known as the 'Rally of Coimbatore,' is expected to be a treat for motorsport enthusiasts.

Blue Band Sports, based in Coimbatore, is the official promoter for the FMSCI Championship events from 2022 to 2026. The first two rounds of this championship were successfully held in Chennai and Nasik, respectively. The opening ceremony for the Coimbatore round will take place on Friday, July 26, at the Coimbatore Jenneys Club premises.

Coimbatore City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan, IPS, will be the chief guest at the inaugural event. He will flag off the rally in the presence of honorary guest R. Sundar, Joint Managing Trustee of SNR Foundation, members of the Coimbatore Auto Sports Club, competitors, drivers, and Blue Band representatives.

The two-day car rally will feature eight INRC (Indian National Rally Championship) competition categories: INRC, INRC 2, INRC 3, Junior INRC, INRC-Women's category, Gypsy category, Classic Car category, and SUV category. The competition will be held over two days, comprising eight stages. The total distance covered in this rally will be 269.38 kilometers.

The first day's events will take place at the SM Agro campus near L&T Road, while the second day's competitions will be held in the Kethanur area near Coimbatore. The first day's races will run from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, covering stages 1-6. A prize pool of Rs. 9.35 lakhs has been announced for the winners. The award ceremony will be held at Jayam Mahal in Ndupalayam division.

The public can watch the championship races in Coimbatore for free. Daily results of the rally can be viewed on the website https://live.chronopulse.com/. The subsequent rounds of the Blue Band FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship will be held in Hyderabad in October, Coorg in November, and Bengaluru in December.

After the second round of the 2024 championship, Harkrishan Wadia leads the INRC category with 40 points, followed by Darius N. Shroff (38 points) and Karna Kadur (35 points). In the INRC 2 category, Fabid Ahmer leads with 56 points, followed by Harkrishan Wadia (42) and Aditya Thakur (31). Darius N. Shroff tops the INRC 3 category with 56 points, followed by Arnav Pratap Singh (39) and Vishak Balachandran (38).

In the JNRC category, Arjun Rajiv leads with 44 points, followed by Abin Rai and Ajay Shankar (32 points each). Pheebi Nongrum leads the Women's INRC category with 70 points, followed by Harshitha Raj Gowda (56) and Nikita Thaakale (40). Baljinder Singh Dhillon tops the Gypsy category with 78 points, followed by Aakarsh Sundar (63) and Jayant Somanathan (27). In the Classic category, Sheikh Hussain leads with 44 points, followed by Praveen Dwarkanath (40) and Aneesh Nath (28).
