CPI Stages Road Blockade in Palladam to Protest Budget Allocation

CPI members held a road blockade near Palladam bus stand in Tiruppur district, protesting the lack of fund allocation for Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget.

Coimbatore: The Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a road blockade protest near the Palladam bus stand in Tiruppur district on Wednesday, condemning the Union government's failure to allocate funds for Tamil Nadu in its recent budget announcement.

Over a hundred CPI members participated in the demonstration, raising slogans against the Central government. The protest was part of a series of demonstrations organized by both CPI and CPI(M) across Tamil Nadu to express their dissatisfaction with the budget allocation.

Police officers on duty attempted to negotiate with the protestors. However, as the demonstration continued, law enforcement officials arrested the participants and detained them at a private marriage hall. The incident caused a brief disruption to traffic flow on the Coimbatore-Trichy National Highway.

The protest highlights the growing tension between the state and central governments over financial allocations and underscores the need for balanced regional development in the country's budgetary decisions.
