BJP Functionaries Join DMK in Coimbatore South District

Former BJP functionaries from Nilambur and Kaduvetti Palayam panchayats in Sulur North Union joined DMK on August 6, 2024, in the presence of Coimbatore District Minister-in-charge S Muthuswamy.

Coimbatore: In a significant political development, two prominent BJP functionaries from Coimbatore South District's Sulur North Union have switched allegiance to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The event took place on August 6, 2024, under the leadership of Coimbatore District Minister-in-charge S Muthuswamy.

The joining ceremony was attended by key DMK officials, including Coimbatore South District Secretary Thalapathi Murugesan and Sulur North Union Secretary Anbarasu. The BJP functionaries who joined the DMK are Murthi, a former cooperative society president, and Dhanapal Vijay, both from the Nilambur and Kaduvetti Palayam panchayats.

The event was organized by K. M. Jagadish, the Sulur North Union Youth Wing leader. Also present at the ceremony were the Union Deputy Secretary, members of the Youth and Students' Wing, and various district and union-level party administrators.

This political shift is seen as a boost for the DMK in the Sulur North Union area, particularly in the Nilambur and Kaduvetti Palayam panchayats. The move is expected to strengthen the party's grassroots presence in these regions, potentially impacting future electoral outcomes in Coimbatore South District.

The DMK leadership welcomed the new members, emphasizing the party's growing appeal across different sections of society. This development comes at a time when political parties are gearing up for future elections, making every addition to their ranks crucial for expanding their support base.
