Youth Drowns in Valankulam Lake While Fleeing Police Interrogation in Coimbatore

A young man from Ondipudur drowned in Valankulam Lake, Coimbatore, while attempting to escape police questioning. Two friends were detained for further investigation.



Coimbatore: A tragic incident unfolded in Coimbatore as a youth lost his life while trying to evade police interrogation. The deceased, identified as Vishwa from Ondipudur, drowned in Valankulam Lake after attempting to flee from the police.

The incident occurred when Vishwa and two of his friends were walking in the Race Course area of Coimbatore. Ramanathapuram police, acting on suspicion, detained the trio for questioning. During the interrogation, the police confiscated Vishwa's mobile phone.

Fearing further questioning, Vishwa attempted to escape by jumping into Valankulam Lake. However, his attempt to swim across the lake proved fatal as he drowned.



Upon receiving the information, the Race Course police arrived at the scene and retrieved Vishwa's body. The deceased's body was then sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the Ramanathapuram police are continuing their investigation with Vishwa's two friends. Further inquiries revealed that both of them are first-year B.Com students at a private college in the Peelamedu area of Coimbatore.

The incident has raised questions about the circumstances leading to the youth's desperate attempt to escape and his subsequent drowning. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain the full details of the event.
