North Indian youth arrested for burglary in Selvapuram, Coimbatore

A 31-year-old man from West Bengal was arrested for breaking into a house in Selvapuram, Coimbatore, and stealing cash and a mobile phone while the owner was asleep. The incident occurred on August 18.


Coimbatore: A 31-year-old man from West Bengal was arrested by the Selvapuram police for burglary in Coimbatore. The accused, identified as Kasina Pal Das, allegedly broke into a house in Selvapuram and stole cash and a mobile phone.

The incident occurred on August 18 at the residence of Akash Ali, 57, a tailor who lives on Ayyavu Pannadi Street in Chokkamputhur, Selvapuram. Akash Ali, who runs a tailoring business for women from his home, had fallen asleep without locking the front door after finishing work.

Taking advantage of the unlocked door, the accused entered the house and stole a mobile phone and Rs. 20,000 in cash before fleeing the scene. Upon discovering the theft, Akash Ali filed a complaint with the Selvapuram police station.

Sub-Inspector Palanisamy registered a case and launched an investigation. The police successfully traced and arrested Kasina Pal Das, a native of West Bengal, in connection with the burglary. Further investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused was involved in any other similar incidents in the area.

The police have advised residents to remain vigilant and ensure their homes are properly secured, especially during nighttime, to prevent such incidents.
