Coimbatore: Pollachi Member of Parliament Eswaran conducted an inspection of the ongoing four-lane highway construction from Pollachi to Dindigul via Udumalpet in Tiruppur district. The inspection covered various sections of the National Highway, including Vedapatti, Narasingapuram, Paramedu, Maivadi, and Polarpatti.
During the inspection at Balappampatti Punjabi Dhaba junction, over 20 members of the public confronted the MP and officials. They expressed their concerns about frequent road accidents in the area, resulting in continuous loss of lives. The residents claimed that despite submitting multiple petitions to the concerned Highway Department officials, no proper action had been taken to address the issue.
The confrontation led to a brief moment of tension as the public engaged in a heated argument with the officials in front of the MP. To pacify the situation, Pollachi MP Eswaran assured the public that a temporary roundabout would be constructed in the area to mitigate accidents.
The inspection was attended by several officials, including National Highways Department Project Director Nagarajan and Udumalpet Revenue Divisional Officer Jaswant Kannan, among others. The four-lane highway project between Pollachi and Dindigul has been under construction for the past few years, aiming to improve connectivity and road safety in the region.
