Mayor Inspects Construction of Homeless Shelter and Additional Classrooms in Coimbatore

Mayor Ranganaayaki inspected the construction of a homeless shelter and additional classrooms in Coimbatore on September 3. She reviewed progress and instructed officials to expedite the work.


Coimbatore: Mayor Ranganaayaki conducted inspections of ongoing construction projects in Coimbatore on September 3. The Mayor visited the site of a new homeless shelter being built at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore in NTB Road, Sundakkamuthur, which falls under Ward 89 of the South Zone of Coimbatore Corporation.

During her visit, Mayor Ranganaayaki reviewed the progress of the construction work and instructed officials to expedite the project. She emphasized the importance of completing the shelter in a timely manner to provide accommodation for the homeless in the city.



Following this, the Mayor visited the Coimbatore Corporation Primary School in Ramasettipalaiyam, also in Ward 89 of the South Zone. She interacted with the students and assessed the educational facilities provided at the school.



At the same school premises, Mayor Ranganaayaki inspected the ongoing construction of additional classrooms. This project, undertaken at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs under the State Finance Commission scheme, aims to enhance the educational infrastructure of the school.



The Mayor carefully examined the progress of the classroom construction and directed the officials to ensure swift completion of the work. She stressed the importance of providing adequate learning spaces for the students.



Accompanying the Mayor during these inspections were Deputy Mayor R. Vetriselvan, South Zone Chairperson R. Dhanalakshmi, Assistant Engineer Kanagraj, Councillor Murugesan, Assistant Town Planner Jayalakshmi, and other Coimbatore Corporation officials. The team collectively assessed the projects and discussed strategies to accelerate the construction processes.
