RAAC Hosts Special Discussion on Children with Special Needs in Coimbatore

RAAC organized a discussion for parents of children with special needs in Coimbatore on September 4. The event featured advice from child welfare counselor Mohanavani and highlighted the upcoming 'Namma Special Park' project.


Coimbatore: The Rotary Aashraya Autism Centre (RAAC) organized a special discussion for parents of children with special needs at their office on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore, on September 4. The event aimed to provide guidance and support to parents raising children with special needs.



Child welfare counselor Mohanavani participated in the discussion, offering valuable advice to parents. The session covered crucial topics such as how to care for children with special needs and maintain their emotional balance. Additionally, the importance of parents maintaining a positive mindset and actively participating in society without hesitation was emphasized.



During the event, RAAC also shared information about their upcoming project, "Namma Special Park." This special park for children with special needs is being developed in Nethra Nagar on Kalappatti Road, Coimbatore, with CSR funding from BOSCH and support from the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation. The park will feature various facilities, including playgrounds for children with special needs, a zip line, an airplane model, a butterfly garden, and a herbal garden. RAAC representatives stated that the park is expected to be ready for use by January next year and will be free of charge for visitors.



Parents who attended the discussion expressed that they found the session highly beneficial and felt newly motivated. RAAC announced that similar discussions would be held weekly on Wednesdays from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, with no participation fee. This initiative aims to provide ongoing support and resources for parents of children with special needs in Coimbatore.
