Armed Robbery: Driver Robbed at Knifepoint Near Siddapudur in Coimbatore

A driver was robbed of Rs. 4,500 at knifepoint by two unidentified men near Siddapudur, Coimbatore. The incident occurred on September 4 when the victim was standing near an S-bend in Mahalakshmi Nagar.


Coimbatore: In a brazen daylight robbery, a 40-year-old driver was robbed at knifepoint near Siddapudur in Coimbatore on Monday, September 4. The victim, identified as Vaira Moorthy from Mariamman Kovil Street in Pethanayakkanpalayam, Palladam, fell prey to two unidentified assailants who made off with Rs. 4,500 in cash.

The incident occurred when Vaira Moorthy was standing near an S-bend in Mahalakshmi Nagar, close to Siddapudur. Two men arrived in a car, and upon alighting, one of them restrained Moorthy by holding his arms behind his back. The other assailant brandished a knife, threatening the victim before forcibly taking the money from his shirt pocket.

After the robbery, the culprits fled the scene in their vehicle, leaving Moorthy shaken but unharmed. Following the incident, the victim promptly filed a complaint at the Coimbatore Race Course Police Station.

The police have registered a case based on Moorthy's complaint and have launched a manhunt to apprehend the two suspects who escaped in the car. Authorities are investigating the incident and are on the lookout for any leads that might help identify and capture the perpetrators.

This incident has raised concerns about public safety in the area, and local residents are urged to remain vigilant. The police have assured the public that they are taking all necessary steps to solve the case and bring the culprits to justice.
