Coimbatore: The 153rd birth anniversary of V.O. Chidambaram, fondly known as Kappalottiya Tamizhan (The Tamil Helmsman) and Sekkizhutha Semmal, was commemorated today (5/9/2024) at the old bus stand in Vadavalli, Coimbatore.
The event was led by V.M. Shanmugasundaram, DMK Secretary of Vadavalli area. Deivayani Tamilmarai, the Coimbatore Corporation West Zone Chairman, was present to pay respects to the freedom fighter's portrait.
Other notable attendees included DMK ward secretaries Viswanathan and Velusamy, along with party members Mahalakshmi, Madan, Kathiresan, Srinivasan, Sundarrajan, Surya, and James. Representatives from the VOC Council were also present at the event.
