Dr.Aruna Jha holds a seminar on depression and suicides on 1st May

‘And when I took that drastic step, my family shed more tears than the blood my blade had seen.’

The World Health Organization has ranked India as the country with the 4th highest number of suicides in the world. It is most common among Indian youth, due to which their families go through significant mental trauma. Dr. Aruna Jha, a suicide prevention researcher and youth mental health expert, hopes to make a change in this field. She will be presenting a seminar on depression and suicides on 1st May at 6 pm in the Ayurvedic Trust, Sree Dhanwanthri Mandir campus, Coimbatore.

The presentation will include topics such as- risk and preventive factors for suicide in youth, common myths about suicides, techniques that could help when faced with suicidal individuals such as QPR and role of suicide survivors in prevention of suicides.

It only takes the smallest of gestures, a little bit of understanding and a whole lot of insight to save lives. So, let us be there in order to grow to be people who revive hope not just in individuals, but also in families and maybe someday, even a country.
