Special Gram Sabha Meeting for MGNREGA Social Audit Held in Bellathi Panchayat

A special Gram Sabha meeting for social audit of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was conducted in Bellathi Panchayat near Mettupalayam, Coimbatore district, focusing on work done and wages paid in 2023-2024.


Coimbatore: A special Gram Sabha meeting for the social audit of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was held in Bellathi Panchayat, which falls under the Karamadai Panchayat Union near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district.

The meeting was presided over by Bellathi Panchayat Council President Boopathi. The social audit focused on the work carried out under the MGNREGA scheme in 2023 and 2024, as well as the wages paid to the workers who participated in these projects.

Social auditor and Block Resource Trainer Ravichandran participated in the meeting and conducted the audit of the works. The audit process included a thorough examination of the attendance registers for the 100-day employment guarantee scheme and their correlation with the computerized attendance records.



Additionally, the audit team, along with the public, inspected the bund construction work carried out in agricultural gardens under the 100-day employment guarantee scheme.

The special Gram Sabha meeting provided a platform for transparency and accountability in the implementation of the MGNREGA scheme in Bellathi Panchayat, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries and that the works are executed as per the guidelines.
