Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS initiated a mass cleaning drive in Ward 27 of the North Zone on September 28, 2024. The operation covered key areas including Avinashi Road and Peelamedu bus stand.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS launched and inspected a special cleanliness drive (Mass Cleaning) in the North Zone of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation on September 28, 2024.

The initiative focused on areas including Avinashi Main Road, Peelamedu, and Kurumbar Street.

The mass cleaning operation, which took place in Ward 27 of the North Zone, encompassed various locations such as Peelamedu, V.K. Road, Porikkadai Lane, Kurumbar Street 1 & 2, and the center median of Avinashi Main Road.

Over 100 sanitation workers were deployed for this extensive cleanliness drive.

The cleaning activities included clearing sewers, removing construction debris from roads, and eliminating unnecessary items. Municipal mosquito control workers went door-to-door, pouring Abate solution into containers and examining stagnant water for mosquito larvae to prevent dengue mosquito breeding. Other tasks involved spraying dengue mosquito repellent, clearing accumulated soil from road medians, pruning tree branches interfering with power lines, removing unwanted vegetation and weeds, and general cleaning of the areas.

Present at the event were Deputy Commissioner K. Sivakumar, North Zone Chairman V. Kathirvel, City Health Officer Dr. K. Boopathi, Assistant Commissioner Sridevi, Council Members including Ambika Thanapal, Assistant Engineer Ezhil, Zonal Health Officer Rajendran, Assistant Engineers Thirumoorthy and Nasser, Health Inspectors Vijayakumar, Pounraj, Loganathan, and other municipal officials.
