Coimbatore: A farmers' grievance meeting was held today at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's office, chaired by Sub-Collector Catherine Saranya. The meeting was attended by the Sub-Collector's Personal Assistant Vijayakumar, Tahsildar Pattu Raja, PAP Project Committee Chairman Medical Paramasivam, Aliyar Project Committee Chairman Senthil, pioneer farmers Patteeswaran, Arumugam, and others.

During the meeting, farmers presented various demands. They requested police cooperation to take action against those involved in water theft from the Thirumoorthy Dam main canal and called for the disconnection of electricity supply to water thieves.

Farmers urged for the swift establishment of a paddy procurement center in the Anamalai region and the determination of wages for employees working in paddy procurement. They also emphasized the need to control wild boars, set up foot-and-mouth disease vaccination camps, and administer vaccines for pox diseases.

A request was made to repair roads damaged during water transportation for drinking water projects and private schemes in the Anamalai old Ayacut Karappatti canal areas. Farmers also stressed that the Tamil Nadu government should increase the paddy procurement price, similar to Kerala.

Sub-Collector Catherine Saranya assured that action would be taken on the farmers' demands. Free Neera drinks were provided to the officials and farmers participating in the grievance meeting, courtesy of farmer Padmanabhan.
