MLA PRG Arunkumar Inspects Flood-Affected Areas in Ward 1, Promises Quick Action

MLA PRG Arunkumar visited flood-affected areas in Ward 1 of Coimbatore, including Appanaickenpalayam and PMP Vasantham, following complaints about waterlogging due to incomplete underground drainage work.

Coimbatore: Kavundampalayam MLA PRG Arunkumar conducted an inspection of flood-affected areas in Ward 1 of Coimbatore Corporation following complaints from residents about waterlogging and muddy conditions due to incomplete underground drainage project work.

The MLA visited Appanaickenpalayam Eswara Sakthi Nagar, where underground drainage pipes have been laid, but the road has not been properly restored for the past three months. Due to recent heavy rains, the area has become waterlogged, with muddy conditions making it difficult for residents to leave their homes.

Arunkumar also inspected PMP Vasantham Thirumurugan Nagar, where similar issues were reported. Residents complained that school vans and vehicles were unable to enter the area due to waterlogging, causing difficulties for school children and working adults.

During his visit, the MLA spoke with concerned officials and requested immediate action to address the flooding issues. He asked for the construction of proper storm water drains to prevent water stagnation. In Appanaickenpalayam, he also requested the extension of underground drainage to a street with three houses that was previously left out due to road ownership issues.

Responding to complaints about low-hanging electrical wires in the area, Arunkumar immediately contacted electricity board officials and asked for the issue to be rectified.

The MLA assured residents that he would work with the authorities to expedite the completion of ongoing projects and address their concerns promptly.

Accompanying Arunkumar during the inspection were various party functionaries including Vanitha Mani, IT Wing District Secretary Manikandan, Ward Secretaries Shanti Pusan and Sureshkumar, as well as local leaders Shanmugam, Ranganathan, Balaji Nandagopal, Mohanraj, and Muthu. Representatives from residents' associations and members of the public were also present during the visit.
