The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCI), inaugurated its renovated Chamber building and honoured distinguished personalities with the GK Sundaram Awards at a function held at Chamber Towers on Avinashi Road.
Coimbatore: The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCI), organised the inauguration of its renovated Chamber building and the presentation of the prestigious GK Sundaram Awards at Chamber Towers on Avinashi Road on Friday.
The renovated Chamber building was inaugurated by S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The event was attended by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner N. Kannan, ICCI President Rajesh Lund, Honorary Secretary Pradeep, former ICCI Presidents Vanitha Mohan and Nandakumar, along with industrialists, business leaders, and other distinguished guests.
Following the inauguration, the GK Sundaram Awards presentation ceremony was held at the Chamber Towers auditorium. S. Krishnan presented the awards to Balchand of Mahaveers and K. Ilango of Rangammal Steels and Malleables in the Industry category, while N.V. Nagasubramaniam was honoured in the Service category.

Addressing the gathering, S. Krishnan spoke about the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence and the need for strong domain expertise in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
“Today, AI tools and agents are becoming an integral part of everyday life. However, the challenges of the future will require individuals to possess a deep understanding of their respective fields. Therefore, students and professionals must build a strong foundation in domain knowledge alongside technological skills,” he said.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ICCI Honorary Secretary Pradeep.
