The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) staged a protest in Coimbatore demanding stringent action against those responsible for the death of engineering student Amuthan and alleging a rise in murders, robberies and sexual violence across Tamil Nadu.
Coimbatore: The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) staged a protest in Coimbatore on Thursday, demanding stringent action against those responsible for the death of Hindustan Engineering College student Amuthan. The party also alleged that murders, robberies and sexual violence had increased sharply across Tamil Nadu in recent times.
Organised by the Coimbatore district unit of the party, the protest was held on Sangam Veethi in Sundarapuram. NTK Youth Wing State Coordinator Idumbavanam Karthik and State Coordinator Madukkarai Anandhan led the protest and addressed the gathering.

The protesters demanded a comprehensive investigation into Amuthan’s death and stringent legal action against those found responsible. They also raised concerns over what they described as a deterioration in the law and order situation in the State, citing the recent spate of violent crimes.

The protesters further called for stronger measures to curb the growing drug culture among youngsters. They raised slogans including, “Our resolve is to eradicate drugs” and “Let us build a drug-free Tamil Nadu.”
A large number of NTK functionaries and cadres from across Coimbatore district participated in the protest and voiced their concerns over public safety and law and order.
