Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College Celebrates Engineers' Day

Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College in Coimbatore commemorated Engineers' Day on September 11, 2026, honoring Sir M. Visvesvaraya's birth anniversary. Industry expert S. Shanmuga Sundaram inspired students about emerging technologies, certifications, and professional ethics during the celebration that included student recognition ceremonies.


Coimbatore: Sri Ramakrishna Polytechnic College marked Engineers' Day on September 11, 2026, with a spirited celebration honoring the legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the legendary engineer and statesman whose birth anniversary falls on this significant date.



The event began with a welcoming address by Principal Dr. D. Gopalakrishnan, setting an inspiring tone for the day's proceedings. D. Maheshkumar, Chief Administrative Officer of SNR Sons Charitable Trust, presided over the function and delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the institution's commitment to engineering excellence.



The highlight of the celebration was the address by chief guest S. Shanmuga Sundaram, a distinguished alumnus from the 2005 batch of Automobile Engineering. Currently serving as Manager and Head of Department – Application (South) at Mitsubishi EDM/Laser MC Machinery Systems India Private Limited in Coimbatore, Shanmuga Sundaram delivered a compelling speech that resonated deeply with the student audience.

In his address, the industry veteran stressed the critical importance of staying abreast with knowledge in emerging and evolving technological fields. He encouraged students to actively pursue relevant certification courses as a means of continuously enhancing their technical competencies in an ever-changing industrial landscape. Beyond technical skills, Shanmuga Sundaram underscored the indispensable role of self-discipline, ethical conduct, and strong moral values in molding successful and socially responsible engineering professionals.



The programme also featured a recognition ceremony where certificates of appreciation were distributed to school students who demonstrated exceptional performance in project and drawing competitions. These awards celebrated the young participants' creativity, technical aptitude, and enthusiasm for engineering disciplines.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. K. Jegadeeswaran, who served as the Coordinator for Engineers' Day 2026. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, faculty members, students, and everyone whose contributions ensured the successful execution of the memorable celebration.
